The first Tararua Mountain Race was held in 1990. The next event, in March 2013 will be our 22nd.

The event is now well established, attracting runners from all over the country and more recently from overseas. Ownership and management of the race was transferred to a trust in 2011.

First time participants are required to enter as a team of two. This is a safety requirement as the weather is notoriously bad. In 22 years we have had 3 fine days, 16 wet and windy days and 3 Hello Casino coupon codes 2019 very marginal days. The record of 4hrs 27min 20sec is a world class time, most being closer to the average time of 7.5 hours, which for 35 kms gives you an indication of the terrain.

A positive by-product is we can offer accomodation at the start-line to competitors and supporters as well.
